All children should have a full eye examination before they go to primary school and regularly throughout their school life.
A child’s vision is fully developed by the age of 8; therefore it is important to correct any visual defects before that age to avoid lazy eyes and squints developing. The earlier treatment is started, the better the results.
Many children under perform at school due to uncorrected vision or problems relating to their sight and this can progress to affect their career choices later in life.
Even if your children can’t speak yet, bring them to our practice for a complete eye examination. Our experienced optometrists will still be able to spot signs of common eye conditions developing.
Children up to the age of 16 or under in full time education are entitled to a voucher which can be used towards the cost of their spectacles.
We carry a large selection of children’s frames of different shapes styles, and colours of a very high standard in flexible metal, titanium, stainless steel or plastic with flexible hinges for added strength. The frames range from budget to designer labels too.
Contact lenses for children can often be an option for recreational use and sports. Our experienced optometrists will be happy to discuss the options with you and ensure that your child’s eyewear fits comfortably.
